Installation guide of the cork flooring

Variant: DIY-Instruction

button
1. substrate preparation

The first step is to check the subfloor. All unevenness exceeding 3 mm must be sanded down or filled with a floor levelling compound. Then clean the surface to be laid with a hoover.

To allow the material to acclimatise to the room temperature and to prevent it from "working" so hard after the installation, the cork floor should be stored in the room to be installed for approx. 48 hours before the installation.

CAUTION: Never lay the cork floor over a soft subfloor, e.g. over carpet or any type of foam underlay.

button
2. preparation for installation

Before laying out the floor, check the wall you are starting on and make sure it is at right angles to the opposite wall. Now spread the vapour barrier to overlap by approx. 10 cm. If the cork floor is not already integrated with impact sound, you can lay the insulation butt to butt and tape it with aluminium tape. Pull the foil up approx. 5 cm at the edges.

Before installation, it is imperative that you follow the official installation instructions that are included in each package, otherwise any warranty and guarantee claims will be void!

button
3. laying instructions

Tip: To achieve as uniform a floor appearance as possible, it is recommended to install panels mixed from 2-3 different packages. The recommended installation direction is from right to left.

Click variant: Place the spacer wedges on walls, door frames, fixed wall cupboards, kitchen combinations, etc. to comply with the expansion joints. These can then be covered with an attractive skirting board. Start laying the floor on the right-hand side in the corner of the room and lay the first plank with the long side facing the wall of the subfloor. Please note the installation direction in the installation instructions. The next plank can be clicked into the end face of the plank already in place, well aligned. Depending on the collection, the planks of the second row are first connected to the front side of the lying planks or first connected to the long side and then clicked into the front side. You can help the grooves to lock by tapping them lightly with a tapping block.

Gluing variant: Apply the glue to the subfloor with a notched trowel. Lay the planks in the wet bed and fix them in place by pressing lightly. Please observe the respective flash-off times of the adhesive.

ATTENTION: A distance of approx. 10-15 mm must always be maintained between the flooring and the wall as well as to all fixed components.

button
4. finish

Now lay all the planks by locking the grooves together. You can tighten the last row with the help of a pull iron and tap the front side tight with a rubber mallet. Finally, cut off the PU foil approx. 2 cm high and now the skirting boards can be fitted.
